Black & Gold will be performing at Chorley Live this year on Friday 3rd October.
We can be seen at 10:00pm at Chorley Town Hall at The Lancaster Suite. Don't miss us, you're in for a treat!
Well, we had some great photo's delivered from a wedding we have recently done and we we're all loving the new images, so we thought it was aa good time to give the website a little tiny facelift. A Big thank you to Anurag Sharma at Shutterleaf, who conducted the band brilliantly on the day of the wedding to get some great pictures. You can see more of the photographs taken on the day Click Here.
Of course if your planning a wedding and need a fantastic Soul & Motown band then give us a call and we be pleased to discuss our services with you, and of course if you need a photographer, contact Sharma www.shutterleaf.co.uk.
Everyone's on holiday! That doesn't mean the band stops work - there's plenty of behind the scenes activity on new numbers. This includes "Sunshine Of Your Love" the old Cream classic but we do the Spanky Wilson version which has a real funky edge. We're looking forward to a busy Autumn with public gigs in Leyland & Chorley and private appearances in city centre Manchester, Worsley, Charnock Richard and Leyland. Come and have a look at us when you can - you will not be disappointed.
Just one appearance this month, a private event with the band well received as always. The diary has been added to with a public event at Chorley Town Hall, Lancastrian Room on November 16th. later this year. We are currently auditioning for a replacement drummer to reinforce our strong line-up. If you know of anyone you think might fit the bill let us know. Work continues on new numbers and we are always interested in suggestions for numbers we should consider playing so if you know of something which fits with our Soul/Motown genre but doesn’t currently feature in our set list (see elsewhere on the website) just let us know.
Another private event, a 60th birthday party, back at The Railway in Leyland on 21st April went very well with a great response on a packed dance floor from assembled guests including some very agile Northern Soul devotees. We’re back at Sale Conservative Club on Sunday 26th May and are booked for the second year at Darwen Live Festival. We’ll be appearing at The Belgrave Cafe Bar at 2-00pm on Bank Holiday Monday (27th May). Last time we played there people were turned away so be early! A live recording will be made of the event. Meanwhile, in rehearsal we are working on “Nutbush City Limits” which is sounding very promising.
Two back-to-back events for the band at the end of May on a busy Bank Holiday weekend with an appearance at a charity event at Sale Conservative Club on 26th. and an appearance at the Darwen Live music festival on Monday 27th. It was our second appearance at both venues and the reception was very positive. Running such a large band (12 piece plus sound engineer) is a logistical task in its own right and we take pride in being in the right place at the right time - every time, come what may. A quiet period ahead now as the holiday season approaches with occasional private events, but we’re back at The Railway in Leyland at the end of August. Hope to see you there!
Our private event at West Heaton Tennis & Bowling Club went very well again with regulars telling us it had been one of the best nights they could recall. Work continues on new pieces including “Heat Wave” while recently added numbers take the place of our more established numbers so we are able to keep our Set List fresh. New engagements are now being negotiated and, amongst others we hope to play again at this year’s Darwen Live festival on the late May Bank Holiday weekend. Keep your eyes open on our website for details of our next public show where you will be assured of real, live, authentic soul and Motown music of the highest quality.
